Our Civic Association plans and hosts several neighborhood events throughout the year, such as Santa’s Fire Truck visit in December, the Egg Hunt in the spring, and the 4th of July neighborhood parade. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!
Please join us for the WWCA 4th of July Neighborhood Bike Parade on Thursday, July 4th, 2019! We'll meet to decorate bikes, trikes, wagons, scooters, strollers at 10:00 and then the parade will kick off at 10:30am! Prizes will be awarded for the most creative decorations/costumes. If you aren't participating in the parade this year, please come line the parade route to cheer on your neighbors and check out the festivities! It's a short parade route - so don't be late :).
We had a fabulous parade and picnic last year that was really well attended. However, given that the temperatures the last few years have been blazing hot and we've had difficulty securing the necessary volunteers, we are making a few changes to this year's event. We are shifting the event to earlier in the day and eliminating the formalized picnic/BBQ. We will have drinks and snacks following the parade, and we hope to have a few games (depending on volunteers!). We hope you can stick around and socialize in the park following the parade.
10:00 Meet at dead end on N Abingdon St (at Washington Blvd overpass/entrance to Custis Trail) to decorate bicycles, strollers, wagons, etc. for parade -- decorations provided by WWCA.
10:20 Line up for parade
10:30 Parade !!
11:00 Snacks, Awards, Games, & Socializing
Volunteers / Materials Needed:
We're looking for a few people to help with event setup & cleanup, as well as parade decorating, judging, and music (super easy and fun!), and games coordination -- and to loan us a few folding tables. Please sign up here.
Check back for updates as the event approaches.
